Mostly produced in steel, the bonnet covers the engine compartment and protects it from direct weather conditions. It was designed to make safer accidental impacts with pedestrians, obviously at low speeds.

Also, while still in the production stage, programmed collapse and retention points are provided in the bonnet so in case of a front collision, it won’t back up towards the windscreen, putting the safety of those on board at risk.

Bumpers are considered your car’s “sacrificial” element: thanks to their high deformability, they shield the parts that would otherwise be damaged in case of light collisions. There are two types of collisions: the pedestrian collision, where the impact has to be correctly distributed over the entire bumper surface to soften its power, and the insurance collision, designed to limit damage to other car parts, like the sides or headlights.
This body component is usually “primed”, or treated with a special grey or black coat called “primer” that enables the correct absorption of the coloured paint and for perfect colour uniformity in both the plastic and metal parts.

Together with the bonnet, the fenders define the front design part of your car.
But most importantly, they have a fundamental role in terms of protection from small stones hitting the car when it is rolling along.

Their shape has been studied to achieve significant aerodynamic performance and high anti dent and deformation objectives.  During testing, fenders are subjected to harsh trials relative to international regulations concerning hitting pedestrians, involving collapsing on impact, obviously within the limits of predetermined speeds.

The sacrificial cross members protect both the front and rear parts of your car, limiting the damage caused by collisions under 15 Km/h, which is statistically the typical speed for an urban rear-end collision. They act as “protection” with respect to the other body parts, which are much more costly to repair or replace.
